Job Summary and Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Radiology nurses are essential to the radiology triad, alongside radiologists and radiology technologists. They provide compassionate, supportive, and culturally competent care, while also coordinating care between different departments. Radiology nurses facilitate patient education, ensure safe medication practices, and closely monitor patients during procedures. After the procedure, they follow up with patients to rule out post-procedure complications and reinforce teaching. Their vital role in ensuring patient safety and positive outcomes makes them an indispensable part of the healthcare team.

+ Before the procedure, radiology nurses complete pre-procedure checklists and review assessment information, ensuring safe medication practices and understanding medication class routes, dosages, and effects.

+ During the procedure, they closely monitor the patient, ensure comfort, and provide ordered medications and other therapies as needed.

+ After the procedure, radiology nurses follow up with patients to rule out post-procedure complications and reinforce teaching. They make sure that patients are sent to the right care unit, be it a paranesthesia care unit (PACU), an inpatient unit, or an intra-departmental recovery area.

Job Requirements

Minimum:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

AZ RN license American Heart Association

American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification

Preferred: BSN Professional certification in area of specialty One year recent acute care experience

$35.00 - $58.63 /hour
