    Job Title: Industrial Electrician

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician with extensive experience in troubleshooting industrial electronic controls. This role involves working with VFDs/DC drives, PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and wiring for equipment such as conveyors, barges, e-cranes, and heavy machinery in a shipping/barge company setting.

    Responsibilities

    + Install, program, start-up, and maintain electrical, automation, and process control equipment.

    + Conduct installation, light programming, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and automation equipment.

    + Perform electrical preventative maintenance and repairs on overhead cranes, gantry cranes, bridge cranes, storm water drain pumps, sewage pumps, generators, building lights, and all terminal equipment.

    + Assist in high voltage outage and preventative maintenance, and support mechanical repairs when needed.

    + Contribute to the modernization project for new equipment.

    + Travel to greater New Orleans area sites outside of Avondale if required.

    Essential Skills

    + High-level electrician knowledge and experience in component-level troubleshooting.

    + Working knowledge of Ohm’s Law and extensive PLC troubleshooting.

    + Familiarity with Emerson (formerly GE) RX3i controllers and Machine Edition software.

    + Ability to attain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

    + Proficiency in installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing equipment/instrumentation.

    + Strong PLC troubleshooting skills including terminations and troubleshooting.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Basic mechanical industry knowledge, particularly with medium to large drive couplings, brakes, and reduction gearboxes.

    + Experience with medium voltage motors and starters preferred.

    + Ability to work from blueprints, wiring schematics, and manuals.

    + Journeyman or master electrician license, PLC commissioning experience.

    + Electrical knowledge supporting diverse equipment systems including Emerson PLCs, Control Techniques VFDs, and DC Drives.

    Work Environment

     

    Candidates must meet 'fit for duty' requirements, including a pre-employment physical and drug test. The role requires physical activities such as walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights up to 130 feet is necessary. Work in a dusty environment under various temperature and weather conditions.

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
