    Job Title: HVAC/Building Engineer Apprentice

    $20-$35/HR

    Job Description

    As a Building Engineer Apprentice, you will learn and be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of all HVACR (Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) equipment as assigned. A customer-first mindset and a hunger for learning from and engaging with a seasoned team to complete routine daily maintenance and repair activities are essential for success in this role.

    Responsibilities

    + Adjust HVAC and related equipment to maintain established comfort zones within guidelines set by the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Lead or designee.

    + Perform essential maintenance and troubleshooting of standard HVACR equipment, including chillers, boilers, AHUs, reach-in/walk-in refrigeration, exhaust systems, and cooling towers.

    + Conduct basic plumbing tasks such as working with flush valves, drains, soldering, sinks, and mixing valves.

    + Maintain an awareness of fire alarm, fire suppression, and generator systems.

    + Use the building automation system to operate equipment and complete essential troubleshooting.

    + Collaborate with the broader team to solve repetitive problems and complete planned maintenance tasks and predictive maintenance programs.

    + Utilize the IWMS system to track work order completion and communicate with customers.

    + Ensure superior appearance and working condition of all equipment assigned to the facilities department.

    + Respond to customer requests professionally, explaining situations for basic understanding.

    + Show willingness to learn and share knowledge with others, including cross-functional teams, vendors, and building apprentices.

    Essential Skills

    + Enrollment in HVACR or Facilities Maintenance/Operation program from an accredited institution.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

    + Ability to lift 50+ pounds and move a 600-pound barrel with the aid of a barrel dolly.

    + Capability to use a full range of body movements (standing, squatting, sitting, walking, bending, etc.).

    + Ability to climb stairs and ladders.

    + Skill in manipulating small objects (thermostat calibration tools, small repair parts).

    + Ability to distinguish different colors (e.g., yellow alarm lights require different responses than red alarm lights, wire colors, etc.).

    This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
