    Description

    PCSI is now looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator at NASA Langley Research Center. The Heavy Equipment Operator will support the safe and efficient operation of machinery essential to grounds, facility, and infrastructure maintenance. This position reports directly to the **Director of Operations** and is located on-site in **Hampton, Virginia** .

     

    Typical work hours will be 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday.

    Benefits Include:

    + Base pay is $22.69/hr.

    + 21 days of PTO per year, in addition to all federal holidays.

    What You'll Do as Heavy Equipment Operator:

    + Operate tractor equipment, to include front-end loaders, batwing mowers, brush hog and other mowing features, in a safe and appropriate manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.

    + Identify and report any complaints to management in a timely manner.

    + Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment and vehicles.

    + Maintain and ensure operational equipment through inspections, cleaning, and or repairs.

    + Follow all facility safety policies and procedures and comply with City, State, and Federal agency requirements.

    + May perform semi-skilled craft trades.

    + Advise the Supervisor or Manager of any requirements for maintenance and repairs.

    What You'll Need:

    + High school diploma or GED.

    + Minimum of 1 year of experience in groundskeeping or landscaping, to include operating tractor equipment.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Knowledge of methods used in groundskeeping, including use of all types of lawn equipment.

    + Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery.

    + Ability to read and understand maps.

    + Ability to read, understand, and complete incoming work orders.

    + Ability to work as a team member and independently to complete daily tasks.

    + Ability to assist and communicate with others as needed and establish effective working relationships.

    Other Requirements:

    + Ability to pass criminal, and drug screening.

    + Preferred ability to pass driving screening.

    + Ability to work outside in inclement weather as needed and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.

    + Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.

    + Preferred to possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.

    + If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
