Practice Overview: We are a leading cardiovascular practice in Long Island, New York, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. Our Electrophysiology (EPS) lab offers state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to treat arrhythmias, including catheter ablations, device implants, and electrophysiological studies. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team and support our physicians in providing exceptional care to our patients.
Job Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Electrophysiology (EPS) Lab will collaborate with electrophysiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing procedures in the EPS lab. This role will involve performing assessments, assisting in diagnostic procedures, providing preoperative and postoperative care, and ensuring continuous support for patients with arrhythmias.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Clinical Support:
+ Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical exams, and pre-procedural assessments.
+ Review and interpret patient diagnostic results, including ECGs, Holter monitors, and electrophysiology studies.
+ Assist in the identification and management of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and atrial flutter.
+ Provide education and counseling on lifestyle changes, medication management, and post-procedure care for patients with arrhythmias.
+ Procedure Assistance:
+ Assist electrophysiologists in performing procedures in the EPS lab, including catheter ablation, electrophysiological studies (EPS), and device implantation (pacemakers, ICDs).
+ Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring proper consent, education, and comfort.
+ Assist with monitoring patients during procedures, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety.
+ Provide support during device implantation, lead placement, and post-procedural assessments.
+ Patient Education and Follow-up Care:
+ Educate patients on the nature of their arrhythmia, treatment options, and the importance of adherence to prescribed therapies.
+ Provide patients with pre-procedural instructions and post-procedural recovery guidelines.
+ Conduct follow-up appointments to assess recovery, monitor device function (e.g., pacemakers or defibrillators), and adjust treatment plans as needed.
+ Assist patients in understanding their device settings, troubleshooting, and the importance of regular check-ups.
+ Collaboration & Communication:
+ Collaborate with the electrophysiology team, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients.
+ Communicate with patients and families to answer questions, address concerns, and provide ongoing education.
+ Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and clinical discussions to review patient progress and refine treatment plans.
+ Document patient interactions and clinical findings in an electronic health record (EHR) system.
+ Administrative & Regulatory Duties:
+ Ensure that all patient care activities comply with regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and professional standards.
+ Maintain patient records, ensuring they are accurate, comprehensive, and timely.
+ Stay current with electrophysiology research, techniques, and best practices to continually improve patient care.
Qualifications:
+ Education: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies, Nurse Practitioner program, or other advanced practice provider programs.
+ Licensure: Current licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in New York State.
+ Certification: Certification by the appropriate board (e.g., NCCPA for PAs, ANCC or AANP for NPs).
+ Experience: Previous experience in cardiology, electrophysiology, or critical care is preferred. Experience in an EP lab setting is a plus.
+ Skills:
+ Strong clinical knowledge in electrophysiology, arrhythmia management, and cardiac care.
+ Ability to assist in and perform patient assessments, including interpreting diagnostic tests such as EKGs, Holter monitoring, and device interrogation.
+ Proficient in assisting with cardiac device implantation, including pacemakers, defibrillators, and electrophysiological studies.
+ Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
+ Ability to work independently while also functioning well as part of a collaborative team.
+ Knowledge of medical software, electronic health records (EHR), and medical documentation practices.

Salary Range
USD $66.55 - USD $93.81 /Hr.
