    ASE is seeking an entry-level Engineering Technician I to support shipboard installation teams for the SCORP communications modernization effort. This is a field-intensive, travel-heavy role working aboard USCG cutters nationwide. The Technician I will assist senior technicians with cabling, equipment removal, equipment staging, and basic installation tasks. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!

    Responsibilities

    Installation & Shipboard Support:

    + Assist in removing legacy communication systems and cabling.

    + Support installation of new SCORP components, including VHF/UHF radios, power systems, cable runs, and related hardware.

    + Prepare cableways, penetrations, mounting surfaces, and equipment locations under supervision.

    + Ensure safe working practices in confined shipboard spaces and industrial environments.

    Technical Work:

    + Use hand and power tools, basic electrical test equipment, and meter devices.

    + Perform continuity checks, labeling, and equipment staging.

    + Assist in Pre-Installation Test & Checkout (PITCO) and Basic Functionality & Interconnection Tests (BFIT).

    + Learn proper cable routing, termination, and equipment mounting from senior installers.

    Documentation & Reporting:

    + Support inventory, tracking, and documentation of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE).

    + Assist with Daily Status Reports (DSRs), QA/OQE packages, and SFLC disposition forms.

    + Participate in installation in-briefs and out-briefs as required.

    Team Contribution:

    + Follow direction from the Engineering Technician VI (Lead) and senior installation staff.

    + Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with USCG units and partner contractors.

    + Adhere to ASE and USCG safety, security, and conduct requirements.

    Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or equivalent.

    + Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical ability.

    + Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical test equipment.

    + Capable of climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

    + U.S. Citizen with ability to pass background checks and obtain a Public Trust.

    + Willing and able to travel nationwide (up to 75%).

    + Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with electrical troubleshooting, wiring, simple installations, or equipment mounting.

    + Experience in logistics, warehouse operations, mechanical environments, or construction/field service.

    + Soldering, basic electronics, or cable routing experience is a plus.

    + Leadership experience in prior roles (crew lead, foreman, etc.).

    + Motivated to advance into Technician II/III roles through training and certifications.
