    Job Description:

At Milwaukee Tool we believe our People and Culture are key to our success. We are committed to investing in resources to verify designs, while developing technical leadership in power tool testing. We are looking for a Sr. Test Engineer in NVH and Fatigue with a collaborative mindset, a high level of technical competency, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment, while influencing team members through technical guidance and coaching.

    Key Responsibilities

+ Work collaboratively within a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment while maintaining an agile and solution-oriented mindset.

+ Build strong partnerships with new product development teams to align on test strategies, procedures, and execution.

+ Consult with cross-functional engineering groups, providing technical insights and recommending design improvements to enhance product performance, reliability, durability, and overall lifecycle.

+ Serve as a technical resource for vibration, fatigue, and durability testing—offering troubleshooting, guidance, and scalable solutions.

+ Develop, document, and continuously improve test procedures focused on fatigue, durability, and structural stress evaluation.

+ Perform advanced analytical methods such as modal analysis, order analysis, and Operational Deflection Shape (ODS) studies to characterize and optimize designs.

+ Instrument test articles using a range of sensors—strain gauges, accelerometers, load cells, etc.—and configure data acquisition systems (DAQ) for accurate data collection.

+ Conduct field data collection to capture real-world loads, create vibration and fatigue profiles, and translate them into representative laboratory test conditions.

+ Record, process, and analyze sound, vibration, strain, and dynamic response data.

+ Perform electrodynamic (ED) shaker tests for resonance identification, durability validation, and fatigue evaluation.

+ Utilize, maintain, and troubleshoot automated systems for NVH, fatigue, and resonance testing.

+ Correlate physical test results with analytical tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to strengthen predictive simulation models.

+ Reduce complex technical data into clear, concise, and actionable reports for engineering and leadership teams.

    Additional Role Expectations

+ Create and refine vibration, fatigue, and load profiles derived from field data, simulation insights, and historical test results.

+ Plan, schedule, and execute laboratory and field tests, ensuring high-quality data and timely deliverables.

+ Train, mentor, and technically develop one engineering technician, ensuring consistent execution of instrumentation, test setup, data collection, and equipment maintenance.

+ Provide day-to-day direction and workload management for the technician, including prioritization, coaching, and performance feedback.

+ Establish and enforce best practices in instrumentation, data acquisition, safety, and test documentation.

    What Tools You Bring

+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

+ 5+ years of experience in NVH, vibration, and/or fatigue testing.

+ Strong understanding of fatigue theory, material behavior, cyclic loading, and structural mechanics.

+ Hands-on experience with instrumentation, DAQ systems, and mechanical test equipment.

+ Proficiency with Siemens Simcenter, MTS fatigue systems, or equivalent testing software/platforms.

+ Experience performing shaker table tests and working with vibration control systems.

+ Familiarity with statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE).

+ Excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.

+ Ability to work independently, lead others, and drive technical excellence.

    Perks & Benefits

+ Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.

+ Generous 401(k) retirement savings program.

+ Education assistance and professional development opportunities.

+ On-site wellness and fitness center, plus food and coffee services.
