The pay range is $230,000.00 - $461,000.00

A role with Target Data Sciences means the chance to help develop and manage state of the art predictive algorithms that use data at scale to automate and optimize decisions at scale. When you join our teams using Statistics, Optimization and Machine Learning, you’ll be challenged to harness Target’s impressive data breadth to build the algorithms that power solutions our partners in Merchandising, Supply Chain, Stores and Demand Forecasting rely on. Target’s Data Sciences teams can expect modeling and data science, software/product development of highly performant code for Model Performance, to elevate Target’s culture, and apply retail domain knowledge.

As a Senior Director of Merchandising, you will be leading teams responsible for the creation and development of our Assortment Capablities, building the key components which allow us to evaluate the optimal mix of Items/SKUs; you will also be leading teams that work closely with Stores for Space, Presentation and Transitions. The teams will also support Vendor science capabilities, as well as support our Owned Brands portfolio. We aim to develop these science capabilities to be more efficient, while also making them directly available to our business team users, allowing us to quickly respond to Guest needs on the largest scale with more accuracy. Merchandising is a key capability for driving our enterprise operations and guest experiences.

You will lead the creation of strategies, identify new technology practices and tools, and create the right team dynamic to drive Target’s goals. You will be responsible for developing and fostering key stakeholder relationships and frequent communication between the stakeholders across GSCL, Demand Forecasting and Stores. You and your teams will partner closely with Product, Product Engineering and business partners to define product roadmaps that fit in our ecosystem and solve retail challenges at scale. You will build consensus and communicate with senior level leadership.

You will lead, develop, and coach global teams and act as a change agent to enable, empower and inspire teams to collaboratively create solutions to drive Target’s growth, while driving a culture that helps attract and retain talent with passion for diversity. About you:

+ Experienced coaching, developing, and training individual contributors and leaders

+ Advanced Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research or related field

+ 10+ years of experience in developing mathematical models and algorithms that operate on scale in production

+ Experienced leading large teams within the Data Science/AI space

+ Significant expertise in optimization, machine learning, linear algebra, statistics, information theory, and generalized linear models.

+ Demonstrated experience in strategic and cross-functional leadership, planning and execution

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Knowledge to test and measure algorithms/models

+ Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain advanced technical concepts, methodologies, and findings for facilitating business applications

+ Strong problem solving and collaboration skills; proven ability to partner with other Data Sciences teams to deliver predictive analytics and models to key business partners, and work with business leaders to formulate clear and focused priorities for the development of decision-models (data engineering, data products, product engineering) in the delivery of predictive analytics and models to key business partners; collaborate with business leaders to formulate clear and focused priorities for the development of decision-models
