    Administrative Assistant for Economic Development

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Administrative Assistant performs advanced and diversified clerical duties within Economic Development while supporting business and community engagement initiatives.

    MAJOR DUTIES

    • Provides support to administrative staff;

    • Uses computer software as a tool for performing clerical assignments;

    • Assists with registration and reporting using student/course records software;

    • Maintains accurate records for student, instructor and course/program documentation;

    • Completes complex processing of documents and/or transactions for assigned organizational unit, program and/or specialized function/activity;

    • Responds to customer inquiries, questions or requests;

    • Communicates professionally with students, faculty, staff, administrators and community partners;

    • Proctors exams according to established procedures;

    • Completes tasks and assignments associated with personnel support functions for assigned organizational unit or program, (purchase orders, travel arrangements, expense statements, etc.);

    • Monitors use of and maintains supplies, equipment and/or facilities for assigned work unit or program area;

    • Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and staff development; and

    • Performs other duties as assigned

    COMPETENCIES

    • Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs

    • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures

    • Ability to operate workroom machinery such as fax machines, copiers, scanners, shredders, etc.

    • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

    • Ability to perform complex and varied duties in an efficient and confidential manner

    • Skill in managing multiple priorities

    • Oral and written communication skills

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate’s degree in Business Administrative Technology *and* One (1) year of work related experience *OR* High school diploma *and* Two (2) years related work experience

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    In addition to the minimum qualifications:

    • Prior work experience in customer service, client support, or student services

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, particularly Word and Excel

    • Experience supporting training or certification programs in an educational or professional setting

    • Experience using student information, registration, or learning management systems
