Position Title: Sous Chef
Department: Culinary / Spa
Schedule: Daytime / Early Evening Only (No Late Nights) Weekends Required
Typical Shift: 6:30am/7:00am – 4:00pm (dependent on service flow)
Salary Range: $55,000- $60,000
Position Overview
The Sous Chef at Spa Folklore plays a pivotal role in supporting and elevating a health-forward, wellness-driven culinary program. Focused on freshness, balance, and beautiful simplicity, this role leads the day-to-day operations of the spa kitchen, ensuring consistent quality, organization, and guest-focused execution. Partnering closely with the Executive Chef team, the Sous Chef helps maintain a serene, efficient kitchen environment that champions clean eating, mindful hospitality, and a wellness-aligned workplace.
Work–Life Balance & Schedule
+ Daytime-focused schedule — no late nights, no high-stress dinner pushes
+ Typical shift: 6:30am/7:00am – 4:00pm, depending on service flow
+ Spa closes by 7:00pm, supporting a sustainable work rhythm

Key Responsibilities
+ Lead daily BOH operations in a calm, organized, wellness-driven kitchen.
+ Oversee prep, production, and execution with high standards for quality, detail, and consistency.
+ Ensure accurate recipe adherence, portion control, and plating consistency.
+ Manage ordering, inventory, and vendor communication.
+ Create and manage weekly schedules; support efficient labor planning.
+ Coach, mentor, and lead a small team within a positive, growth-minded, wellness-aligned culture.
+ Collaborate seamlessly with F&B leadership, spa management, and service teams.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment.
Qualifications & Skills
+ Proven experience leading BOH operations in a health-forward or similar kitchen.
+ Strong culinary skills with an eye for quality, detail, and presentation.
+ Familiarity with seasonal, clean-ingredient cuisine.
+ Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
+ Positive, growth-oriented attitude and ability to foster a well-aligned kitchen culture.
+ Highly organized, reliable, and able to maintain calm under service pressures.
