Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
+ The IRB Panel Coordinator will work with personnel in all areas of the submission and review process to ensure appropriate preview of all protocol applications and consent forms.
+ Plan COMIRB panel meetings, synthesize meeting reports and ensure that meeting reports are completed in accordance with federal requirements and COMIRB policies and procedures; database entry and generating written feedback letters to investigators.
+ Provide support to faculty and research staff on research submissions, training requirements, and up-dated processing procedures.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, healthcare, business administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
+ At least one (1) year of professional experience in an administrative support role
+ A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience working with Institutional Review Boards or OHRP/FDA regulations regarding human subject research.
+ Certified IRB Manager (CIM) or Certified IRB Professional (CIP) qualifications.
+ Experience with research and/or health care.
+ Experience in an academic setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
+ Outstanding customer service skills.
+ Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
+ Working knowledge of Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations for human subject research.
+ Knowledge of higher educational and/or research environment.
+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
+ Strong interpersonal and human relations skills.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to plan, meet deadlines, work under pressure, and organize multiple projects or tasks.
+ Comprehensive computer skills and ability to work with complex databases.
+ Ability to effectively support the panel team and contribute to working groups, staff meetings, and other committees as assigned.
+ Flexibility and adaptability.

Becoming an IRB Panel Coordinator is such a great opportunity for the Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Borad at the University of Colorado Anschutz because it plays such a pivotal role in the field of reviewing and submission process for human subject research applications in accordance with federal requirements. You will work closely with personnel in all areas to ensure appropriate preview of protocols applications and consent forms, planning COMIRB panel meetings and providing support to faculty and research staff on research submissions.
- this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.
COMIRB reviews human subjects research prior to implementation in the affiliated institutions and/or research conducted by faculty or staff members of these institutions, even if it is performed at other locations. COMIRB reviews are performed in accordance with federal regulations and AAHRPP accreditation standards. The main responsibilities of the COMIRB office and panels in the order of priority are: 1) protect human subjects and their rights, 2) protect researchers, and 3) protect the institution. This is a critical role to ensure that COMIRB is fulfilling its mandate of human subject protection and maintains compliance with federal regulations.
