The Hydraulics Engineering Manager leads the U.S. team responsible for pumps, filters, and valves, with an emphasis on variable-speed integration and motor-driven systems. This person should be highly fluent in motor design and performance, able to guide decisions on motor architecture, control strategies, and system-level behavior while leading a team focused on developing reliable, efficient hydraulic products. Additionally, you will:

+ Lead and develop a team of mechanical and hydraulics engineers focused on pump, filter, and valve products.

+ Serve as the subject matter expert for motor technologies used in hydraulic applications.

+ Apply detailed knowledge of AC induction, BLDC, axial flux, and emerging motor types to evaluate and influence product designs.

+ Collaborate with controls and electronics teams to define drive requirements, interface specifications, and performance targets.

+ Review and interpret motor and system-level test data, including torque, efficiency, speed, and acoustic behavior.

+ Translate product and performance goals into clear engineering requirements for both mechanical and motor systems.

+ Guide supplier discussions and design reviews related to motor construction, materials, and drive integration.

+ Oversee engineering deliverables, project priorities, and budgets, ensuring products meet design intent and reliability goals.

+ Build and maintain a technically strong team that understands both fluid mechanics and electromechanical systems.

+ Promote collaboration between global engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing groups to achieve common design and cost objectives.

    WHAT WE SEEK

+ 10+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years in a leadership or management role.

+ Expert-level understanding of motor technologies, including AC induction, BLDC, axial flux, and related control systems.

+ Familiarity with motor performance fundamentals such as torque curves, losses, magnetic design, and efficiency tradeoffs.

+ Strong understanding of variable-speed drives and how control algorithms interact with motor and mechanical systems.

+ Hands-on experience in pump or fluid-handling product development.

+ Proficiency with SolidWorks, FEA, and CFD.

+ Proven record of leading cross-functional engineering projects from concept through production.

+ Clear communicator, comfortable working across mechanical, electrical, and firmware disciplines.

+ Travel 10–20% for supplier and team collaboration.

    PREFERRED:

+ Background in electromechanical system integration and supplier collaboration for motors or drives.

+ Familiarity with motor standards, safety, and efficiency regulations.

+ Experience managing engineers working on variable-speed or electronically controlled products.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

+ Office and lab setting with occasional time spent in test or production areas.

+ Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.

+ Travel 10–20% for supplier and team collaboration.

    EDUCATION
