    The Board of Education will accept written applications for the following anticipated position:

    Social Worker - Prospect Elementary School

    Position Summary

    The School Social Worker provides social-emotional, behavioral, and community-connected support to students, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of Native American youth. This position requires cultural humility, strong relationship-building skills, and an understanding of community-centered approaches to student wellness.

     

    This is a 10-month position. The salary will be $49,037 to $89,059 annually, based on experience and in accordance with the current, negotiated Salamanca Teachers Association (STA) Contract. Salamanca City Central School District offers a robust benefits package, numerous professional development opportunities, and is a Student Loan Forgiveness eligible district.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Support Learning Excellence by addressing social, emotional, and environmental factors that influence student engagement, attendance, and academic success.

    + Build Respectful Relationships with Native American students, families, tribal education departments, and community partners grounded in trust, compassion, and cultural awareness.

    + Provide individual and group counseling using trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practices.

    + Demonstrate Effective Communication in collaboration with teachers, administrators, families, and tribal representatives to create coordinated support strategies.

    + Conduct assessments to identify student and family needs and assist with accessing school- and community-based resources.

    + Facilitate home-school communication and strengthen partnerships with families through consistent, respectful outreach.

    + Advocate for equitable services and culturally aligned supports for Native American students.

    + Promote Continuous Improvement by utilizing data, feedback, and reflective practices to enhance the quality and cultural relevance of services.

    + Assist with crisis response, safety planning, conflict resolution, and restorative practices.

    + Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and cultural guidelines.

    + Participate in school-wide initiatives to promote positive behavior, mental wellness, and culturally inclusive practices.

    + All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work (MSW preferred).

    + Valid New York State social work license or eligibility for licensure (e.g., LSW, LMSW).

    + Demonstrated commitment to serving Native American students using culturally responsive, respectful, and community-centered approaches.

    + Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to Effective Communication with diverse individuals and groups.

    + Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, culturally grounded mental health supports, and family systems.

    + Dedication to Learning Excellence, Respectful Relationships, and Continuous Improvement.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience working with Native American youth, tribal education programs, or Indigenous communities.

    + Understanding of tribal sovereignty, cultural protocols, and community engagement practices.

    + Training in restorative practices, crisis intervention, or culturally responsive mental health supports.

    + Familiarity with MTSS frameworks, social-emotional learning systems, and school-based intervention models.
