Description
$21-24 per hour and a Free Family YMCA Membership
Under the guidance of the Director of Communications, the Communications & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the YMCA of Greater Rochester’s communication and marketing strategies by producing and implementing content across multiple mediums –internal and external - including the web site, emails and flyers. This position will work to ensure the Y’s story and brand are shared energetically and authentically with members, staff and the community at large. This position is responsible for understanding the Y’s voice and mission, as well as crafting clear, concise messaging to share with intended audiences. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester are conveyed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Collaborate on creative and messaging efforts for various mediums and campaigns including emails, promotional messages, newsletters, events and more.
• Master using the Y voice in programmatic offerings, understanding the organization’s place in the community, to craft compelling copy that resonates with intended audiences.
• Maintain up-to-date information and offerings on web site, including all program and event descriptions.
• Collaborate with all members of the Experience Team to ensure content aligns with the overall communications and marketing strategy across all platforms including social media, web site, email, internal and external signage, etc.
• Possess thorough understanding of YMCA of Greater Rochester’s brand guidelines.
• Lead assigned projects; create timelines to accomplish project goals within defined timeframes and budgets.
• Attend all required meetings and training.
• Attend and help coordinate YMCA events.
• All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Associate’s degree required, bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing or related field preferred.
• Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail; creative worker with the ability to produce innovative and original ideas.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency; adhere to brand guidelines while maintaining grammar, punctuation and spelling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; exceptional active listening skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to situationally make improvements or take corrective action with self and others.
• Excellent team builder and team player; ability to work self-directed.
• Must have strong time and project management skills, including the ability to work on multiple emails at the same time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended duration of shift.
• Must be able to bend and stoop frequently.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Salary Description
$21 to $24 per hour
