**Job Title:** Aircraft Electrical Mechanic II - JAWACS
**Location:** Onsite – San Antonio, TX
**Shift Expectations (First, Second, Third):** Candidates are required to be available to work any shift including weekends and holidays. Varies based on business need but core hours for now will be 1st shift. 1st Shift: 5:30am-2:00pm
**Clearance:** Secret clearance required post-start (not needed to begin).
Position Overview
PDS Defense is seeking highly skilled **Aircraft Electrical Technicians** to perform electrical modifications, troubleshooting, and maintenance on aircraft systems. This role requires expertise in wiring, connector terminations, and interpreting technical documentation. Successful candidates will ensure compliance with government and company standards while supporting mission-critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform on-aircraft and off-aircraft electrical modifications to wiring and system components.
+ Execute complex connector terminations, including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring.
+ Understand and follow wire handling and routing instructions.
+ Perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and cables per standard processes.
+ Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements.
+ Conduct assembly, installation, and visual inspection of electrical assemblies and wire bundles.
+ Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft electrical and environmental systems at organizational or depot maintenance levels.
+ Perform operational testing and troubleshooting on bench and flight line per DOD, manufacturer, and company directives.
+ Ensure compliance with SA Tool and FOD procedures.
+ Maintain certifications, licenses, and permits required for assigned work.
+ Assist and train less senior employees; may lead teams on complex tasks.
+ Prioritize workload to meet project schedules.
+ Use precision measuring instruments and gauges to verify dimensions and quality.
+ Diagnose and correct malfunctions during assembly processes.
+ Consult with management and peers to assess best work processes.
+ Support other team members (General Mechanics, Structures, Avionics) as needed to meet cost/schedule targets.
Basic Qualifications
+ **4+ years** of experience performing aircraft electrical duties as described.
+ Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic theories and systems.
+ Ability to work rotating shifts and meet physical requirements (lifting up to 35 lbs, confined spaces, ladders).
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with depot-level or modification maintenance.
+ Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and powered elevating equipment.
Education
+ High school diploma or GED and **4+ years** of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical & Safety Requirements
+ Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
+ Exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms
+ Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required.
+ Pass visual acuity and color perception tests
+ Read, write, and comprehend the English language
+ Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material
+ Obtain & maintain training certifications as required to support assignment responsibilities
+ Occasional (1 to 3 hrs) finger manipulation
+ On occasion, a 2-person lift may be necessary for weights greater than 50 lbs
+ Frequent reaching overhead (3 to 6 hrs)
+ Frequent walking on flat surfaces
+ Frequent standing flat or uneven surfaces
+ Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces
+ Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands
+ Rotation of head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bend/stoop, lying down, and operate foot controls for an extended period of time
+ Occasional contact with metals
+ Frequent exposure to noise
+ PPE / Physical requirements: Safety toed shoes, Eye protection, ability to 35 lbs
