Summary You will serve as a SHIP PROGRESSMAN (GENERAL) in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PEARL HARBOR NAVAL SHIPYARD & IMF within the DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY. Responsibilities You will plan and schedule production work, determine work assignments and take corrective action on production delays or anticipated delays. You will review assigned Task Group Instruction, job orders, plans and specifications, and work and worker assignments. You will resolve any problems that may arise such as ambiguous aspects of the job order specifications and plans, unattainable completion dates, substitution of materials, and additional manpower. You will ensure that plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that the stock needed is obtained from the supply department. You will check work in progress and when finished, check for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence procedures, methods, and deadlines. You will advise other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines and demonstrate proper work methods. You will provide information to the supervisor on the status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. You will participate in discussions to obtain information on the nature of work projects, availability dates of ships, materials, and engineering plans to be required, and changes made on preliminary plans and estimates. You will monitor work progress through visits to work sites and daily work progress reports. You will evaluate operations to ensure trade work is completed according to schedules and specifications.
