    Job Description

    SUMMER INTERNSHIP WILL RUN FROM JUNE 1, 2026 - AUGUST 14, 2026

    Marketing Statement

     

    The Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO) ensures that Metro complies with all applicable laws prohibiting discrimination and retaliation.     The selected intern will support the effective operation of several OEEO programs by assisting in the development of resources and materials. Responsibilities will include identifying patterns and problems, collecting and organizing information, and preparing OEEO training, policy, and compliance-monitoring materials to help create three complementary resource hubs. The intern will collaborate with team members to gather information, manage content related to investigations and program functions, and help develop new materials tailored to the office's needs.

     

    Additionally, the intern will assist in creating layouts, identifying information gaps, and developing visual and digital materials to build a practical, customer-oriented internal resource hub. They may also observe investigative interviews, contribute to team discussions on a variety of OEEO issues, and support the completion of special projects.

     

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

     

    Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

     

    Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in a field relevant to the internship.

    Additional requirements for Summer College Interns:

    The interns major or area of concentration must align with the academic and functional requirements of the position.

     

    Must be at least a rising college sophomore.

     

    Must possess a minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA.

     

    For progressive internships that extend across multiple summers, interns must receive a favorable performance evaluation each summer to continue.

     

    Medical Group

     

    Applicants must satisfactorily complete the required medical examination, if applicable. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Summary

    This internship is an introductory training opportunity for college and graduate students seeking hands-on experience in the transit industry. Opportunities may include Bus and Rail Operations, Safety and Emergency Management, Engineering, Police, Information Technology, City/Urban Planning, and general business functions. Assignments are temporary and not to exceed thirteen (13) weeks during the summer. Interns may rotate through various departments depending on their major and departmental needs. Supervision is provided by an Executive or designated staff member.

    Major Duties

    Duties will vary depending on the assigned department. General responsibilities may include:

     

    Compiling, reviewing, and analyzing data. Operating a personal computer to verify, input, and correct data for reports.

     

    Researching data and assisting with the preparation of management, operational, technical, and administrative reports.

     

    Producing deliverables such as presentations, reports, correspondence, graphical data representations, and project plans.

     

    Reviewing reports to identify issues based on established criteria and supervisor guidance; proposing solutions as instructed.

     

    Participating in departmental training sessions, meetings, and Authority-wide activities to gain exposure to transit operations.

     

    Participating in or leading departmental meetings and working sessions.

     

    Evaluation Criteria

     

    Consideration will be given to applicants whose résumés demonstrate the required education and experience. Applicants should include all relevant work and academic history.

    Evaluation may include one or more of the following:

    Skills or behavioral assessments

     

    Personal interview

     

    Verification of education and experience (including certifications and licenses)

     

    Criminal background check (a conviction is not an automatic disqualification)

     

    Medical examination, including drug and alcohol screening (for safety-sensitive positions)

     

    Review of current motor vehicle record
