RESPONSIBILITIES
The Dining/Retail department at Queen’s Medical Center provides food and beverage options for the hospital staff and visitors. We have a full service cafeteria that is open from 6:15 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., 7 days a week, three coffee shops serving prepared food and Starbucks hot and cold beverages, and a team that is traveling with a cart throughout the hospital to serve our dedicated hospital staff in their departments. All positions in Dining have some direct interaction with our customers and have a direct impact on their day by providing them with a delicious meal or the cup of coffee they need to get through their shift.
We are recruiting and willing to train for all positions and roles that include responsibilities such as preparing and cooking food, serving food, making and serving specialty coffees, cashiering, dish washing, transporting food, and attending to the travelling cart.
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs a variety of routine duties including but not limited to simple food preparation, service of food meal trays to customers and patients, washing and cleaning of small and large dishes, utensils and equipment.
• Performs duties in accordance with established standards and procedures.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Continuous: pushing and pulling 5 to 10 psi, carrying up to 25 lbs., seeing, hearing, standing, walking, forward reaching, grasping, handling.
• Frequent: pushing and pulling 10 to 20 psi; lifting: floor to knuckle up to 45 lbs., knuckle to shoulder up to 30 lbs., shoulder to overhead up to 25 lbs.; carrying up to 45 lbs., talking, bending, squatting, stooping, overhead reaching, twisting, fingering.
• Occasional: pushing and pulling 30 to 80 psi; lifting: floor to knuckle and knuckle to shoulder up to 75 lbs., shoulder to overhead up to 50 lbs.; carrying up to 75 lbs., stair climbing, side bending.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Exposure to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Subjected to varying temperatures: cold temperatures when working in freezer and chill room and changing to outside condition.
• Exposed to wet, slippery, and icy conditions.
• Tasks involves working in confined areas inside freezer or chill room.
• Work involves handling sharp objects.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• High School diploma preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Prior experience or training as a food service worker preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
