    BAE Systems is hiring for an Occupational SHE Specialist to support at its site in Louisville, Kentucky. This role supports second shift, 2:30pm-midnight. In this role as an Occupational SHE Specialist, you will report directly to the Safety & Health Supervisor. You'll work independently to provide technical and professional safety health support to BAE Systems managers and employees to improve the safety and health of our employees, ensure environmental risks are mitigated, and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

    Included duties:

    + Work with management, staff, and hourly employees to promote the development of a safety, health, and environmental culture that exhibits the behaviors and processes outlined in the BAE Systems SHE management systems.

    + Lead and execute incident investigations with line management and various levels of professionals within the organization.

    + Perform a team approach to Root Cause Analysis, utilizing defined methodologies to identify causes and preventive measures.

    + Report or review findings from incident investigations, inspections, or other applicable information to senior leadership.

    + Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment in order to determine if safety health and environmental requirements have been met.

    + Inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety and health regulation compliance.

    + Ability to execute required company and regulatory training to management and hourly employees.

    + Assist with the on-going management of the SHE Environmental Management System.

    + Assist on 2nd shift with waste classification and segregation. Ensure that waste is properly classified, segregated, and stored to prevent environmental harm.

    + Conduct environmental inspections as needed to identify potential environmental hazards and report to Environmental Manager.

    + Respond to environmental releases and assist with clean-up efforts.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in an Environmental, Safety, or equivalent field, and two years of related experience.

    + Thorough knowledge of EHS regulations and modern EHS management principles.

    + Possess basic knowledge of Environmental and Safety Management System (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001).

    + Excellent communication skills in order to deliver complex information effectively to employees and all levels of site management (written and verbal).

    + Ability to prepare and present survey analyses to all employee groups.

    + Experience facilitating meetings and working groups.

    + With minimal supervision, able to take self-initiative as an individual contributor, while also able to work in a team environment.

    + Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

    + Ability to coach/consult with line management at all levels relative to building a culture and processes that lead to excellent SHE performance.

    + Able to support on a 2nd Shift.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Experience in heavy industrial / manufacturing environment beneficial.

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $70735 - $120250

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
