Essential Functions

1. Lead, mentor, and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians in daily operations.
2. Assist in the training and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians.
3. Assign daily tasks and ensure workflow efficiency within the pharmacy.
4. Assists Pharmacists in the procurement and preparation of medications for hospice patients.
5. Processes admissions, transfers, and discharge information in computer system. Answers the telephone, responds to questions, and notifies a Pharmacist as needed. Enters charges to patient accounts if necessary.
6. Selects, counts, measures, prepares, packages/repackages, reconstitutes, and labels medication required for dispensing, utilizing established procedures. Prepares FedEx label for shipment of medications.
7. Returns unemptied medication bottles to inventory following preparation of a prescription.
8. Gathers necessary medications for replenishment of automated dispensing machines where applicable. Unit doses medications as needed for hospice patient needs.
9. Maintains adequate stock levels of medications and supplies (i.e., labels, vials, etc.) in the pharmacy. Communicates needed medications to be ordered for patient care. Receives daily orders from pharmacy wholesaler. Restocks the shelves with ordered medications and removes outdated medications from current inventory.
10. Assists with the proper maintenance of related departmental equipment. Maintains a clean work environment and sanitizes per policy.
11. Works cooperatively with fellow Pharmacy team members and others throughout the organization and with hospice partners.
12. Provides performance feedback and assists in the performance management and review process for pharmacy technicians.
Marginal or Additional Functions
1. Adheres to all HIPAA protocols for patient privacy.
2. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Supervisory and Managerial Responsibility
• This role leads the pharmacy technician team as described, provides guidance and coordinates and delegates workflow to the team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education, Licensure or Certification:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred
• Licensed/Certified as a Pharmacy Technician in the state, if applicable
Work Experience or Related Experience:
• Experience in which incumbent acted as a resource, led or supervised others is preferred
• Prior experience in healthcare as a Pharmacy Technician or Medical Assistant is preferred
• Hospice and palliative care experience is preferred
• Knowledge of pharmacy/medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly encountered in a pharmacy required
• Experience with various web browsers: (Google Chrome / Firefox), Google Docs, Google Sheets, or similar software required
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while paying strict attention to detail required
• Prior experience with FrameWorks LTC software is preferred

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment
Equipment:
• Working knowledge of a PC, business and communications software (MS Office) and web-based tools are required

Work Environment, Conditions and Demands
• Work is performed in a professional, closed door pharmacy environment.

• This position entails a high level of work performed at a computer terminal and telephone or headset equipment throughout the day
• This position requires frequent standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms
