    SUMMARY

    The Manager, Maintenance Contracts provides strategic and operational leadership for all third-party maintenance contracts within a nuclear generating station. The role oversees the negotiation, administration, and performance management of all maintenance and service contracts that support the station. The role ensures that contracted services and supporting programs comply with nuclear regulatory requirements, station procedures, procurement controls, budget targets, and work management processes.

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. (Preferred)

    • Without the above degree, 5 years of additional experience in maintenance, contract administration, or supply chain within a regulated industry may be considered.

    EXPERIENCE

    • 5 years of experience in maintenance, contract administration, or supply chain within a regulated industry. (Required)

    • 5 years in a supervisor or management position (Required)

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

    • Project Management Professional (PMP) (Preferred)

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop, negotiate, and manage maintenance service contracts to support nuclear plant systems, equipment, and infrastructure.

    • Ensure all contracted work complies with NRC, INPO, OSHA, and company safety, quality, and security requirements.

    • Coordinate with Maintenance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Legal to prepare and evaluate RFPs, bids, and service agreements.

    • Establish and monitor contractor performance metrics including safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost.

    • Serve as the primary liaison between the plant and contractors to ensure alignment with maintenance schedules, outages, and corrective actions.

    • Oversee contractor onboarding, training, and qualification to ensure compliance with site access and nuclear safety requirements.

    • Review and approve contractor invoices, verify work completion, and track expenditures against approved budgets.

    • Support work planning and scheduling to integrate contract services into overall plant maintenance and outage activities.

    • Conduct audits and performance evaluations of vendors to ensure adherence to plant and regulatory standards.

    • Manage renewal, modification, and closeout of maintenance contracts, ensuring all documentation is accurate and retrievable for regulatory review.

    • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and standardize contract terms across maintenance functions.

    • Participate in outage planning, emergency response, and contingency contract management.

    • Maintain awareness of industry’s best practices, regulatory updates, and benchmarking opportunities within the nuclear sector.

    FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Maintains fiscal records and procedures of the department to ensure effective and efficient operations.

     

    • Understands and manages to financial and budget targets. Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions.

    • Proactively monitors and interprets ongoing financial performance and responds strategically.

    • Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions and takes accountability for financial decisions within area.

    PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

    Performs people management.

     

    • Ensures development plans are in place and followed.

    • Performs personnel activities for direct reports (promotions, salary changes, counseling, performance appraisals).

    • Prepares and delivers oral and written communications relating to work group and station activities (e.g., reports, presentations, department meetings).

    • Monitors work group reports and recommendations to assure evaluations, assessments and support are effectively developed and communicated.

    • Develops and maintains appropriate technical expertise within the work group to ensure adequate talent to perform meaningful assessments and program oversight.

    • Represents department/company on internal work teams and committees and with external entities.

    • Maintains composure in high stress or adverse situations.

    • Understands and implements company policies.

    • Provides employees with tools and training necessary for them to perform their assignments.

    SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Skilled in contract negotiation, cost control, and vendor performance management.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Accept Outage position.

    • Accept ERO position and be able to meet the response requirements.

    • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access if needed.

    • Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.

    ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.

    • Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.

    • Travel may be required.

    • May be required to carry a phone.

    WORK LOCATION

    • Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
