    Job Summary

    KUER 90.1, Utah’s largest NPR affiliate, is seeking an ambitious student or recent graduate for an intensive, spring semester Digital Communications internship with RadioWest, KUER’s flagship interview program.

     

    RadioWest is looking for someone to help us boost our messaging about our show and the work we do. We are aiming to reach a larger audience across all platforms and create more engagement with listeners.

    Responsibilities

    + The intern will work with the production team to learn the context, ideas and ins and outs of each show we produce.

    + The messaging process will require collaboration with producers and research into the episodes to gain an understanding and getting facts right.

    + Draft engaging, show appropriate posts each week for Instagram, Facebook and X.

    + Use social media management tools (Buffer) to schedule posts.

    + Ensure timely promotion of upcoming episodes, special segments and live events.

    + Monitor comments, messages and mentions across platforms.

    + Respond to audience interactions in a professional and brand-consistent manner.

    + Track engagement metrics (likes, shares, comments, reach).

    + Prepare weekly or monthly reports summarizing performance and trends.

    + Stay updated on social media trends and recommend creative ideas to increase reach.

    + Identify opportunities for the show to participate in relevant conversations or trending topics.

    + Work closely with producers and hosts to gather behind-the-scenes content.

    + Coordinate with KUER’s marketing team to ensure consistency across all channels.

    + Maintain accuracy and integrity in all published content.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Preferences

     

    + Prior radio production experience is not necessary, but excellent marketing, communication and social media skills, as well as a strong curiosity about the news and Utah issues are essential.

    + Preferred applicants should be highly collaborative and open to feedback.

    + Students can be from any major, but there will be a preference for communications, journalism and public relations majors with a strong social media focus.

    + Interest in journalism and public radio is a plus.
