    Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

    The New Technology Leader (Power Conversion) will lead the next generation product development within High Power Conversion team within Electrification and Energy System Div. for the following products: energy storage inverter, MegaWatt charging system, and DC/DC converters.

    What you will have:

    • Lead technology development projects from requirements, concept down select to prototype validation.

    • Lead sponsored research projects with University and National labs.

    • Act as a technical advisor and subject matter expert for the Power Conversion Team.

    • Partner with market facing organizations to support customer project development.

    • Lead a small team of engineers to work on projects that make impact for Caterpillar’s power generation products.

     

    Degree Requirement

     

    Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

    What you will have:

    **Decision Making and Critical Thinking:** Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques for power converters; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

    Extensive Experience:

    • Evaluates past decisions for insights to improve decision-making process.

    • Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact.

    • Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives.

    **Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively translate technical knowledge to diverse audiences.

    Extensive Experience:

    • Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.

    • Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.

    • Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.

    **Technical Excellence:** Experience working in power conversion, hardware and controls.

    Extensive Experience:

    • Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.

    • Coaches others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions to business problems.

    • Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

    **Project Management:** Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

    Extensive Experience:

    • Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects.

    • Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.

    • Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients.

    • Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.

    **Product Testing:** Knowledge of power converter testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.

    Expert:

    • Leads the evaluation, selection, and implementation of testing approaches, tools and scenarios.

    • Mentors others in improving the throughput and efficiency of the manufacturing test processes.

    • Oversees the testing processes of multiple products in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

    • Consults on product-testing costs, tools, approaches and benefits.

    **Troubleshooting Technical Problems:** Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or power conversion development environment.

    Extensive Experience:

    • Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.

    • Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.

    • Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.

    • Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.

    Additional Information

    • This position is located in Mossville, IL.

    • Travel required up to 25% (domestic & international)

    • This position will offer relocation.

    Summary Pay Range:

    $126,000.00 - $189,000.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.

    This position requires working onsite five days a week.
