Job Summary
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct advanced research in Marine Science at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM), focusing on the analysis of sediment cores from the Western Pacific. The position involves sampling, analyzing, dating, and interpreting sediment cores from coastal sinkholes to study paleotyphoon events. This full-time, twelve-month appointment provides an opportunity to contribute to high-impact marine research through laboratory and field investigations, data integration, and collaboration with faculty and interdisciplinary research teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Conduct advanced analyses of sediment cores collected in the Federated States of Micronesia, including sampling, chronology development, and interpretation of depositional records.
+ Integrate datasets into centralized repositories to support research collaboration, visualization, and data sharing.
+ Prepare manuscripts, technical reports, and presentations for publication and dissemination to scientific audiences and funding sponsors.
+ Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of research strategies, methodologies, and dissemination plans.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising faculty.
