The Aerospace Defense and Marine (AD&M) business at TE is a leader in the development and engineering of a comprehensive portfolio of connectors, fiber optics, wires, cables, antennas, circuit protectors and moldings for harsh environments. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Product Engineer to join AD&M’s Ruggedized Fiber Optics (RFO) group, focusing primarily on sustaining development. RFO is a leading designer, developer, and manufacturer of optical and optoelectronic products for telecom/datacom, oil and gas, industrial, military, and broadcast markets. As part of the AD&M team, you will be joining a group of professionals who are passionate about ensuring the future growth of the business while maintaining integrity, taking accountability, working as a TEam, and continually improving to ensure constant innovation and openness to change. This position will report directly to the RFO Engineering Manager and be based at our Fairview NC plant location. It is to lead small and medium sized projects and manage the technical elements.
Job Requirements
Duties include, but are not limited to:
+ Liaison to Manufacturing in Arden and Fairview NC plant location
+ Create Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
+ Make changes to drawings in CREO/ZWCAD to comply with ITAR / EAR Controlled ECR/ECNs
+ Address requests for product extensions, drawing changes, engineering quotes.
+ Handle requests to get part extended and costed SAP
+ Support Expanded Bean Product Line for changes and product extensions.
+ Using best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes.
+ Working independently to solve problems where precedents may not exist and providing new perspective on existing solutions.
+ Training or mentoring junior staff or new members.
+ Aiding project management responsibilities in absence of the team leader/project manager.
+ Tolerance analysis
+ Create design verification test (DVT)/Qual test plans, create test request
+ Support / witness testing in the lab
+ DVT/Qual cable assy design / drawings, component modeling / print creation
+ Participate in DFMEA/PFMEA
+ Support design review preparation / presentation
+ Manage Model shop requests
+ Support build or build prototype parts.
What your background should look like
+ B.S. in Mechanical or optoelectronic engineering, or similar.
+ Minimum of 5 years product development experience, preferably with electronic or optoelectronic related assemblies, hardware, and components.
+ ITAR/EAR position – US Citizenship or permanent resident required
+ Demonstrated teamwork skills in a high paced environment.
PREFERED COMPETENCIES
+ An understanding of fiber optic systems is preferred.
+ Experience identifying and working with component suppliers to source components necessary to meet design requirements.
+ SAP experience
