Summary
The Advisor, Material Pricing leads and leverages technology and analytics to drive material pricing projects, being exposed to a wide cross-section of business functions and customer teams while working on strategic business opportunities and improvements. This role supports precise cost estimating using historical data and part cost estimations, while updating material prices databases and analyzing Bill of Materials for competitiveness. They also negotiate with suppliers on RFI, RFQ, and RFP, and interact with global customer units and counterparts in other regions.
Detailed Description
The Advisor, Material Pricing performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
+ Understand Celestica and Customer requirements and lead projects to ensure to meet Celestica / Customer goals
+ Understand Cost And Pricing Data Requirements
+ Collaborate closely with Commodity Management, Purchasing, Sourcing, Engineering teams, and Financial / Customer Focus Team
+ Manages customer pricing proposals and maintains historical Database of quotes
+ Supports precise cost estimating using historical data, as well as estimating costs of parts
+ Coordinates and manages the material cost activity for select customers and/or sites
+ Prepares material pricing independently for new business opportunities (bids) including generation of Bill of Material, cost analysis, negotiation with suppliers, collaboration with Commodity Management and presentation to team leaders and managers.
+ Updates material prices database and analyzes Bill of Material for competitiveness.
+ Negotiates with suppliers on RFI, RFQ and RFP.
+ Participates in kick-off meetings and interacts with global customer’s units as well as counterparts in other regions.
+ Audits and analyzes quarterly cost variances. Consolidates, tabulates, analyzes and reports on various commitment and performance metrics
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
+ Working knowledge of the marketplace conditions for the area of specialization including industry pricing, technology and supply/demand trends.
+ Strong systems skills, including common office platforms such as MS Office and Access
+ Superior Microsoft Excel skills (familiarity with Visual Basic would be an asset)
+ Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.
+ Basic understanding of specific customer needs.
+ Good communication, organization, negotiation and presentation skills.
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
+ Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
+ Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
+ Ability to consolidate, manipulate and analyze large quantities of data.
Physical Demands
+ Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
+ Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
+ Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

+ Bachelor’s degree in related field (Business or Engineering), or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience
