The Medical Division operates 365 days a year on a 24-hour basis with the primary responsibility of overseeing the health and well-being of all members of the service from pre-employment screening through retirement. All Medical, psychological, drug screening, professional services, medical records, medical bills, line of duty prescriptions and disability applications are processed through the Medical Division. There are four satellite health care facilities located in the Bronx (Bronx Health Care), Brooklyn (Brooklyn Health Care Unit), Corona (Dr. Robert E. Thomas Health Care Unit) and Staten Island (Staten Island Health Care Unit) that monitor and evaluate uniformed members of the service while on sick report and/or on limited/restricted duty status
The NYPD Medical Division is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Steno Specialist who will be responsible for taking dictation at a rate of 175 words per minute, and transcribing audio dictated by Medical Board Directors.
Additional Information: In compliance with Federal Law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements except as shown under the Special Note below.
2. Ability to take dictation at the rate of 150 words per minute and to transcribe the notes on an appropriate machine.
Special Note:
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV, individuals must also have at least one year of satisfactory experience in the operation of computer-aided transcription equipment at Assignment Level III.
