GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Leads advertising sales and revenue growth with responsibility for achieving annual advertising goals for Arkansas Living, the state’s largest-circulation publication. Builds relationships with businesses that want to reach cooperative members and rural communities across Arkansas. Oversees key business operations for the magazine including advertising billing, circulation billing and circulation audit preparation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Proactively identifies and secures profitable new advertising accounts that align with Arkansas Living’s audience and mission. Converts qualified leads into closed sales through consistent outreach, timely follow-ups and tailored proposals that strengthen the magazine’s value to readers and advertisers. Actively participates in professional networking organizations and engages at conferences, trade shows and cooperative events to generate revenue-producing opportunities. Tracks and reports weekly sales activity and outcomes to demonstrate progress toward monthly and annual goals.
+ Manages and strengthens relationships with current advertisers, provides exemplary customer service to maximize retention and account value. Maintains regular communication and ensures timely, accurate fulfillment of contracted advertising. Identifies upsell opportunities that align with advertiser goals and demonstrates consistent progress in account satisfaction and renewal rates.
+ Supports the full sales cycle by presenting media kit offerings, handling advertiser inquiries as business development opportunities and negotiating rate card contracts that accurately reflect value and drive revenue.
+ Serves as an ambassador for Arkansas Living and the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas, representing the magazine and the cooperative network with professionalism and positivity at conferences, community events and other public-facing activities. Active participation and a collaborative team mindset are essential.
+ Works directly with American MainStreet Publications (AMP), a national network of electric cooperative magazines, on national and regional advertising sales. Serves as Arkansas Living sales representative/liaison with AMP.
+ Prepares billing for advertisers and member cooperatives for circulation revenue and works with accounting for collection of overdue advertising accounts. Maintains accurate advertiser data for design and billing systems and ensures postal documentation and reporting for advertising.
+ Leads the strategic development of the magazine’s media kit and advertising positioning, collaborates with the graphic designer to ensure strong visual presentation and compelling value messaging. Conducts annual market analysis to inform rate card updates and develops the annual advertising strategy for print and digital assets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CONT'D
+ Produces and traffics print and digital ads for clients, ensuring technical accuracy including size, bleed and resolution.
+ Prepares monthly and annual circulation and postal audit reports. Assists staff with printing, mailing, archiving processes.
+ Assists editor and staff in proofing the magazine throughout production, with special attention to the ads. Assists staff in uploading editorial and advertising content to magazine website on a monthly basis.
+ The ability to handle necessary stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position. Maintains respectful conduct and a constructive attitude when working with internal staff, member cooperatives and external partners. Supports a collaborative team culture and responds positively to feedback and direction.
+ Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
+ Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.
+ Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in advertising/marketing, business management or related field, plus 7 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Driver's license.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Demonstrated success in advertising sales, preferably at a newspaper or magazine, is vital.
Strong customer service and communication skills required.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines and deliverables accurately in a fast-moving production environment.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software preferred.
In addition, this position will conduct the annual circulation audits and assist with updating mailing lists for the magazine, along with other business operations.
This position requires work beyond the regular 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., M-F work week.
