Position Summary:
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for non tenure-track adjunct position in Japanese Studies, to begin January 5, 2026
The duties in this role include:
+ Plan and teach content and material according to the JPST *240 Japanese Culture and Society class description and class number of credits (4 credits).
+ Formally evaluate students at least 4 times per semester.
+ Provide timely feedback to and interact with students to promote the acquisition of class content.
+ Communicate and report to WLC Chairperson and to NCC Registrar’s Office as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic qualifications are required at the time of application.
+ The successful candidate will have completed a Masters Degree or above in the field related to the class content
+ The qualified individual should have at least:
+ A Masters degree in the field related to the class content
+ Pedagogical experience teaching the class content or related topics
+ Pedagogical experience and/or training in the modality of the course (i.e. in-person/hybrid/online)
+ Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, as well as ongoing scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications are not required qualifications for the position.
+ Experience with teaching Japanese or Japanese Studies topics that add to the current departmental offerings;
+ Demonstrated excellence in both teaching, training in pedagogical methods, and research.
