    Overview

     

    Element has an opportunity for a **Metallurgical Prep Technician** to safely and accurately perform metallurgical sample preparations, such that subsequent testing and evaluations can be conducted in accordance with applicable standards, specifications and customers’ PO (purchase order).

    Shift hours - 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

     

    Salary: $19/hr-$23/hr + $1.00 Shift Diff once on 2nd shift

    Responsibilities

    + Perform metallurgical evaluations on metallic materials

    + Section, mount and polishes, using automated equipment or by hand, in preparation for metallurgical evaluation

    + Setup equipment and perform testing for metallurgical corrosion evaluations

    + Provides support to Metallurgists and Failure Analysis Engineers

    + Works with other staff to meet the delivery obligations of the metallographic laboratory

    + Ensure safety of self, coworkers, and visitors by following written and verbal safety procedures

    + Apply and record data using sensitive instrumentation

    + Participates in company 5S and Safety initiatives

    Skills / Qualifications

    + Is this job for me?This is a fast-paced environment, and we need someone who is proactive, self-motivated and a team player. The person for this role will be a specialist in their field, respected by all who they work with, keen to learn and enthusiastic in the face of challenge. You will:

    + Minimum high school graduate, metallographic/metallurgy coursework preferred

    + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, general computer skills

    + Strong applied math skills (arithmetic, algebra)

    + Ability to read and understand ASTM, ISO, AMS, etc., and specific customer standards and procedures
