Job Title: Lean Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will oversee the transition from prototype to full-rate production for a new defense-related hardware line. This role is responsible for designing and validating manufacturing processes, integrating quality standards, and ensuring production readiness across both legacy and new product lines.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement manufacturing processes, work instructions, and test automation.
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards such as AS9100D, FAA, and DoD.
+ Lead production readiness, validation, and process improvement initiatives.
+ Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supplier teams.
+ Drive lean manufacturing and Six Sigma practices.
Essential Skills
+ BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
+ 5+ years in manufacturing or testing within aerospace or regulated industries.
+ Experience with circuit board design/debugging and SolidWorks.
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Lean/Six Sigma certification.
+ Experience with scripting (Python), JavaScript, PLC programming, and ERP implementation.
+ Experience in design engineering.
+ Avionics or aerospace experience, especially in electronics manufacturing.
+ Hands-on/tinkering mindset with practical experience in building or troubleshooting.
+ Experience in customer communication regarding technical manufacturing topics.
+ Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing project needs.
+ Experience supporting supplier selection, audits, and ensuring supplier quality.
+ Experience in regulated industries like medical device (ISO) or automotive (TS) manufacturing.
+ Quick learner with the ability to rapidly learn new products and processes.
Work Environment
The role is based onsite full-time in White Salmon, WA, across the river from Hood River, OR. Enjoy a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. This position is part of the leadership team and reports directly to the CEO.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Salmon, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $67.00/hr.
