Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Description
The primary function of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role involves both technical and customer service responsibilities to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
+ Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
+ Centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment as necessary.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
+ Understand and execute all physicians' orders accurately.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Package specimens for transport while maintaining specimen integrity.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone inquiries.
+ Check in patients and assist with kiosk operations, payment processing, and order entry.
Essential Skills
+ 2-4 years of recent phlebotomy experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Blood draw experience from pediatric to geriatric patients.
+ Experience with specimen processing.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Strong data entry and customer service skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to perform 40-50 draws per day.
+ Reliable
Work Environment
The position is based in a laboratory setting in Dunwoody. Initial training will be conducted with the site coordinator for approximately 2-3 weeks. The work schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 4 PM. The role requires punctuality, a customer-friendly attitude, and being a team player, with attendance being critical to success.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
