Job Description
The Radiology Technician is responsible for positioning patients and adjusting equipment for all routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. The role includes instructing patients regarding procedures and observing their vital signs during examinations. Adherence to prescribed safety standards and the use of radiation protection according to departmental policies is essential. The technician will select the appropriate radiation exposure settings for each patient, authorize the release of patients after imaging, and deliver diagnostic images to radiologists for interpretation. Additional duties include administering contrast media, providing input for equipment purchases, performing fluoroscopic studies, maintaining patient records, and participating in quality assurance programs.
Responsibilities
+ Position patients and adjust equipment for radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.
+ Instruct patients about procedures and observe their vital signs during examinations.
+ Follow safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
+ Use radiation protection according to department policies.
+ Select appropriate radiation exposure settings based on individual patient needs.
+ Authorize the release of patients after imaging examination completion.
+ Deliver diagnostic images to radiologists for reading and interpretation.
+ Administer contrast media correctly and provide appropriate instructions.
+ Contribute to equipment and supply purchase decisions.
+ Perform fluoroscopic studies following department protocols.
+ Maintain patient records accurately.
+ Ensure the supply area is stocked according to departmental needs.
+ Enhance professional growth through education programs, conferences, and workshops.
+ Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
+ Participate in portions of the quality assurance program.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in radiology, X-ray, scanning, imaging, and patient care.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Completion of an accredited course of study in radiologic technology or an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
+ One year of experience as a radiology technician is preferred.
+ Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
+ Current state permit as a General Diagnostic Radiographer.
Work Environment
The position is based at the North Ames Urgent Care Clinic. Working hours are Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, with one additional shift at the main clinic on either Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday (most likely Wednesday) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role also includes working every other weekend from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with additional compensation. The average workweek is approximately 36 hours.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.88 - $28.88/hr.
