    Job Title: Machine Operator

    Job Description

    Join our dynamic team as a Machine Operator, where you will be responsible for cutting and fabricating metal components with precision and skill. You will operate machinery such as overhead circular milling saws, band saws, and friction saws to ensure each project meets specified dimensions and quality standards.

    Responsibilities

    + Cut metal bars, rods, rounds, and structural shapes to specified lengths and miters using various saws.

    + Perform necessary measurements for project preparation using a cutting list.

    + Program machines for cuts and fabrication, engaging power feeds and turning hand wheels to feed work into cutters.

    + Verify dimensions of work and perform routine machine maintenance.

    + Read drawings and operate CNC controlled shear to length and punching machines.

    + Make required set-ups and select proper punches and dies.

    + Maintain tools, equipment, and working areas in clean, neat, and orderly condition.

    + Follow safety rules and ensure the area is clean and crops are neatly stored.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in machine operation, particularly with saws.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

    + Proficiency in measuring skills and use of tape measures.

    + Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

    + Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

    + Basic knowledge of shop fabrication equipment.

    + Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.).

    + Familiarity with structural steel fabrication.

    + Ability to cut and measure beams, plates, and work an angle master.

    Work Environment

     

    Work on the 2nd shift from Monday to Thursday, 4:30 pm to 2 am, and Friday, 2 pm to 10 pm, with optional Saturdays for overtime. Training is provided on the 1st shift. The shop is an open-air environment covered by sheet metal, which can be loud and dirty at times. Located off Prospect Rd./Dixie Highway in Fort Lauderdale, the position requires wearing boots, occasional ladder and lift use, climbing, walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and lifting under 50lbs. Flexibility for hours outside of scheduled shifts may be necessary.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland Park, FL.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
