    Job Description

    Seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Tooling Technician to add to our growing team! This individual will be responsible for working within a team to repair molds, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling equipment involved in plastic injection molds and assembly of plastic products.

    Responsibilities

    + Train personnel in the proper use of equipment.

    + Read blueprints and use measuring instruments and math to build repair parts for broken molds, jigs, and fixtures.

    + Maintain adequate repair supplies such as core and ejector pins, die springs, and other materials related to repairs.

    + Modify molds, jigs, and fixtures to correct problems.

    + Inspect and verify changes made by outside mold-making vendors to assure that work performed meets standards and specifications detailed in purchase and engineering change orders.

    + Perform skilled work involving close tolerances and which is above the competence level of tool cleaner.

    + Maintain records of all repairs, modifications, and inventory performed.

    Essential Skills & Qualification

    + 2+ years of tooling, plastic injection, mold, or jig and fixture experience.

    + Proficiency in mold repair, die maintenance, and troubleshooting

    + Ability to read blueprints

    + Ability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly.

    + Ability to operate forklifts and/or overhead cranes.

    Work Environment

     

    Typical injection molding/automotive manufacturing environment that can get warm in the summer. This is one of the largest plants in SW MI, known for its organization due to continuous improvement initiatives. Training is provided by the most experienced tooling technician and the tooling manager.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Kalamazoo, MI.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.70/hr.
