    Job Summary:

    The Prior Authorization Manager is responsible for the work of the Prior Authorization Coordinators and ensuring the quality of the prior authorization workflow. Acting as a working manager, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring performance, tracking productivity towards goals, hiring, training, and managing the Prior Authorization Coordinators, and completing the necessary functions to ensure optimal reimbursement for high cost, take home medications for patients receiving care in the Upstate medical University Health Clinics.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelors Degree and two years prior authorization, pharmacy, medical billing or relevant experience OR Associates Degree and four years prior authorization, pharmacy, medical billing or relevant experience required. Prior supervisory experience required. Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, conflict resolution, and computer skills required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience with medication reimbursement, medications, physician orders and insurance claim submission preferred. Experience with healthcare insurance prior authorization/coding and performing insurance carrier/managed care review preferred.

    Work Days:

    Days between 8am -6pm depending on pharmacy need.(40 hours/week)
