    We are looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Care Chemicals team in Washington, NJ.

    Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and working under direction of higher maintenance classifications, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all site’s mechanical equipment, piping and other crafts. Perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and cleanup work in a safe and efficient manner are also within the scope of this role.

     

    This position is part of a job family with multiple levels and will be filled at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience

    During your day-shift as a Maintenance Mechanic, you will

    + Maintain site equipment, including systems with hazardous substances; participate in emergency preparedness drills.

    + Install, repair, and fabricate components: piping and fittings from drawings, pumps, agitators, frames, and other steel-based equipment.

    + Install, replace, and repair insulation across various plant equipment.

    + Operate normal maintenance shop equipment, pipe cutter, drills, grinders, drill press, pipe threaders, etc.

    + Perform a variety of other maintenance activities as assigned to operate the plant in an effective and efficient manner.

    + Ensure compliance with all BASF policies and procedures and government-mandated laws in the areas of Safety, Ecology and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).

    + Aware of Process Safety concerns such as reactive chemical hazards, MOC requirements, and accident / incident investigations and reporting. Also participate in PHAs, PSSRs, and Step Safety Reviews.

    + Evaluate potential solutions and making informed decisions to implement effective equipment maintenance and repair.

     

    If you...

     

    + Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.

    + Possess two (2) to three (3) years of general plant experience with good mechanical aptitude and practical knowledge to perform a wide range of repair and maintenance work.

    + Are able to read blueprints, drawings and P&ID’s. Knowledge of pipe fitting skills and valve utilization.

    + Have understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics & electrical systems.

    + Bring problem solving and analytical skills to minimize equipment downtime & maintain productions schedules

    + Possess experience with communication and collaboration to align with other trade professionals to maintain and improve machinery performance.

    + Have practical experience using hand and power tools that require manual skill and dexterity, i.e. wrenches, pliers, hammer, knives, micrometers, depth gauge, pipe cutter, threader, drill press, bandsaw, etc.

    + Are able to drive a forklift

    Pay transparency

     

    BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive pay range for this role is $30 - $45 hourly. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
