### Job Duties

Posse Members support the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office by maintaining public safety, providing security, and assisting with a variety of law enforcement functions. Members work scheduled shifts at community events, including the McLeod County Fair, Winstock Country Music Festival, public and private dances, and in the County Parks. Duties include patrolling designated areas, assisting in inmate supervision, providing crowd control, and ensuring a safe environment for residents and visitors. Posse Members must be prepared to respond to a wide range of situations, including physical confrontations, and are responsible for upholding professionalism, confidentiality, and public trust. The role requires physical activity such as walking, running, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating vehicles or ATVs as needed. Members also attend mandatory training sessions, including CPR and First Aid certification, and participate in monthly meetings to stay current on procedures, safety protocols, and operational responsibilities.

### Minimum Education Required

High school diploma or equivalent.

### Minimum Experience Required

No specific law enforcement experience is required; however, previous work or volunteer experience demonstrating responsibility, good judgment, and the ability to follow procedures.
