The Data Engineer will be responsible for enhancing, cleaning, and managing data across operational and analytics platforms. This role supports enterprise-wide data initiatives, enabling strategic decision-making and performance optimization. The Data Engineer will focus on centralizing data from multiple sources, developing robust data models, and creating insightful dashboards. This position collaborates closely with IT, analytics, and business teams to ensure data integrity, accessibility, security, and scalability.

Your Typical Day
Design & Development
• Engineer scalable, high-performance data warehouse architectures tailored to evolving business needs.
• Design, build, and maintain the organization’s data lake and warehouse architecture.
• Develop, refine, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines for seamless integration and transformation of data from diverse sources.
• Enhance and optimize data models to enable sophisticated analytics and reporting capabilities.
• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to refine data models for dashboards and reporting.
Maintenance & Monitoring
• Continuously monitor data infrastructure performance, proactively identifying and resolving pipeline issues.
• Implement and monitor systems to ensure data quality, integrity, consistency, security, privacy, and availability.
• Execute regular updates and maintenance to ensure optimal operation of data systems.
• Conduct data analysis to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
Collaboration & Support
• Work closely with data analysts, BI developers, and business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document data requirements.
• Deliver comprehensive technical documentation and ongoing support for data warehouse processes.
• Coordinate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to facilitate smooth deployments and system integrations.
• Translate reporting and analytics requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide technical mentorship to analysts on accessing and using engineered data models.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
• Stay abreast of emerging tools and technologies and recommend solutions to advance data warehouse capabilities.
• Champion and implement best practices in data governance, metadata management, and regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate tools for data lineage, metadata management, and integration.
• Contribute to long-term data platform architecture strategy and roadmap.
What You’ll Need
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, ETL development, database engineering, or analytics.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with modern data platforms.
• Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Databricks, Talend, Apache NiFi, dbt, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and data lake architectures.
• Solid understanding of data modeling techniques (star/snowflake schemas), normalization, and performance tuning.
• Experience with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Excel) and data visualization.
• Knowledge of data governance, compliance frameworks, and API integrations.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex findings to senior leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, scope, and deliver data projects within organizational priorities.
• Experience supporting nonprofit or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
• Familiarity with Office 365 collaboration tools and Dynamics 365 data structures is a plus.
• Experience with machine learning or predictive analytics integration into data workflows is desirable.
