Job Summary
The Ecological Preserve Manager will manage the Blackwater Ecological Preserve, which consists of 319 acres of threatened long leaf pine and other rare species. The manager will serve as the point of contact for all matters related to the preserve and will work with our partners to pursue the goals of preservation, education, outreach, research, and restoration. The manager will also be responsible for teaching two courses per year in the Department of Biological Sciences as assigned.
+ The primary goals for the Ecological Preserve Manager are as follows: Maintain the Blackwater Ecological Preserve.
+ Work with partners donors to preserve this important, diverse ecosystem.
+ Expand research activities at the Preserve.
+ Invite collaboration from researchers around the country.
+ Apply for foundation and/or grant funding as appropriate.
+ Expand educational and outreach activities at the Preserve.
+ Support restoration efforts for longleaf pine.

Minimum Qualifications
MS in biological or ecological sciences or related field, required.
Knowledge:
+ Considerable knowledge of longleaf pine ecosystem, including plants and animals found there.
+ Considerable knowledge of ecological research methods.
+ Familiarity with restoration efforts. Familiarity with prescribed burns.
Skills:
+ Expertise in data analysis, scientific writing, scientific communication.
Abilities:
+ Excellent oral and written communication.
+ Supervision of student research projects.
+ Considerable experience with longleaf pine ecosystem.
+ Some experience interacting with conservation and educational agencies and institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in biological or ecological sciences or related field preferred
