    DESCRIPTION

    The Government Operations Consultant I is responsible for reviewing licensure questionnaires statewide, supporting licensure determinations, and assisting with policy development. This position researches licensing requirements and exemptions, as well as licensing and training issues affecting the child care licensing program. The role provides support and guidance to regional and circuit staff regarding licensure questionnaires and licensing inquiries. The Consultant also represents the Department at meetings, conferences, and stakeholder events, ensuring that child care licensing regulations are effectively implemented to support safe, high-quality child care environments.

    REQUIREMENTS

    + Knowledge of child care licensing regulations, requirements, or willingness to learn and apply them.

    + Ability to review, interpret, and evaluate licensure questionnaires and supporting documentation.

    + Strong research skills with the ability to review statutes, rules, policies, and program guidance.

    + Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions.

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills for responding to providers, stakeholders, and internal staff.

    + Ability to prepare professional correspondence, reports, and documentation.

    + Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively with regional, circuit, and statewide staff.

    + Ability to travel for meetings, trainings, and conferences as needed.

    + Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

    + Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Educational Requirements :

    High School Diploma or GED required.

    Work Experience Requirements:

    1–2 years of experience in childcare, child care licensing, early childhood education, or related field preferred.

    Software Proficiency:

    + Proficiency in conducting research using online statutory, regulatory, and policy resources.
