    Description of Work Unit

    Laboratory

    The Laboratory department at the CSU Health Network performs a wide variety of testing including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, parasitology and virology on site. The lab staff works very closely with the medical providers for the diagnosis and treatment of physical and mental illness.

    Position Summary

    The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the leadership, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance of a high-complexity outpatient clinical laboratory located on a college health campus. The laboratory performs testing in Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology, Endocrinology, Microbiology/Molecular, and Urinalysis, as well as Point-of-Care ( POC ) testing. The Manager oversees day-to-day laboratory functions, supervises staff, ensures quality assurance and regulatory compliance, supports strategic initiatives, and fosters collaboration within and outside the CSU Health Network.

     

    The Laboratory Manager reports directly to the Associate Medical Director and has CLIA -regulated reporting responsibilities to the CSU Health Network part-time Laboratory Director.

     

    Required Job Qualifications

     

    Education/License/Certification

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field with completion of an accredited clinical internship

    + Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists ( ASCP ) or equivalent

    Experience

    + Minimum of five years of experience in a high complexity laboratory

    + Minimum of two years of supervisory experience

     

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    Experience

    + Experience across multiple lab disciplines (Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, etc.)

    + Experience leading Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments ( CLIA ) and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care ( AAAHC ) inspections*

    + Demonstrated commitment to all-inclusive care and working with a wide range of populations

    + Four plus years of supervisory experience*
