Work Schedule:Fulltime, On-site Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA
Role Overview:
The C2 Analyst provides advanced operational, analytical, and doctrinal expertise in support of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force Operations Center Training Team (MOCTT) and the Marine Corps Integrated Systems Training Center (MISTC) network. This role supports the design, execution, and assessment of Battle Staff Training Exercises (BSTEX) and other Command and Control (C2) training events. The analyst applies rigorous methodologies aligned with the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS), Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE), and DoD 5000 acquisition frameworks to ensure training events are doctrinally sound, data-driven, and operationally relevant.
C2 Analysts serve as the connective tissue between operational warfighters, system engineers, and training developers, refining C2 processes, assessing performance, and providing recommendations that directly shape Marine Corps doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
General Skillset
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project) and data analysis tools
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills with briefing experience at senior staff levels
+ Team-oriented with strong independent research capability
+ Exceptional critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills
+ Ability to translate complex technical and operational data into actionable insights
Specific Skillset
+ Expert understanding of JCIDS, PPBE, and DoD 5000 processes
+ Familiarity with MAGTF C2 architectures and Joint C2 interoperability frameworks
+ Proven experience in operational planning, assessment, and doctrinal analysis at MEF, MARFOR, or COCOM levels
+ Proficiency with MCTIMS, Performance Execution Checklists (PECLs) and other C2 performance assessment tools
+ Experience developing After Action Reports (AARs), Battle Drills, and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) injects
+ Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative performance data from multiple sources (system logs, chat transcripts, comms, voice data, observer notes)
+ Experience producing formal CDRL deliverables to TECOM and MISTC HQ standards
Requirements
Education & Certifications
+ Bachelor’s degree required (operations research, systems engineering, national security studies, or related field preferred)
Experience Requirements
+ 15 + years of progressive experience in C2 analysis, warfighting integration, or operational assessment
+ Prior service in a MEF, MARFOR, or Joint staff billet preferred
+ Demonstrated experience supporting MAGTF or Joint training and readiness programs
Additional Responsibilities and Deliverables
+ Serve as asenior analytical SMEduring BSTEX events, collaborating with MOCTT and MISTC instructional staff to observe and assess unit C2 performance in real time.
+ Capture detailed staff interactions, information flows, and decision-making processes using standardized PECLs.
+ Compile and synthesize data intocomprehensive AARsthat identify strengths, weaknesses, root causes, and actionable recommendations.
+ Lead the production of all BSTEX-relatedCDRL deliverables, including Battle Drills and supporting MSELs, ensuring quality and doctrinal alignment.
+ Participate inC2 Training and Education Continuum forumsto socialize lessons learned and inform the evolution of MAGTF C2 doctrine and TTPs.
+ Collaborate with Doctrine SMEs to integrate BSTEX insights into updates of USMC and MAGTF C2 publications, SOPs, and training materials.
+ Support enterprise-leveltrend analysis, leveraging historical AAR data to identify systemic gaps and track performance improvement across units.
+ Work closely with Senior C2 Instructors, Faculty Development Lead, and MISTC HQ leadership to ensure analytical outputs align with TECOM objectives and training standards.
Impact and Integration
C2 Analysts play a key role in advancing the Marine Corps’ C2 modernization strategy by providing objective, data-informed assessments that drive continuous improvement in MAGTF training and operational readiness. Their analysis feeds directly into doctrinal development, informs TECOM’s C2 Training and Education Continuum, and ensures MISTC and MOCTT remain aligned with evolving Force Design priorities.
