    We are seeking a _Sr Clinical Social Worker_ **_(Psychiatry HCGH)_** who will provide services and continuity of care to clients/patients seen in the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center Outpatient Psychiatry Department. Performs Psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis of psychiatric disorders and completes Substance Abuse Evaluations. Works with a multi-disciplinary team in the Psychiatry Department to provide quality psychiatric service. Is knowledgeable of Mental Health Resources in Maryland and proficient in formulating and implementing treatment and disposition plans. Documents all clinical activity in accordance with Johns Hopkins and State of Maryland regulations.

     

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    _Outpatient Practice_

    + Performs psychiatric assessment, formulates a diagnosis, and in consultation with the referring physician, recommends and completes appropriate disposition.

    + Provide psychotherapy to outpatients with a variety of psychiatric conditions.

    + Generate bills for services provided in accordance with Johns Hopkins Clinical Practice Association Guidelines.

    + Reviews the chart, obtains all insurance authorizations necessary before providing service to the patient.

    + Contact necessary insurance providers and obtain authorizations needed to complete disposition and documents on the chart.

    + Interview patients and perform psychosocial assessment, mental status examination, and past psychiatric history.

    + Contact family or any collateral informants necessary to provide the information necessary to complete an assessment.

    + Formulates an appropriate treatment/disposition plan for patients.

    + Develops a knowledge base of Mental Health Service System necessary to make the most appropriate clinical disposition.

    + Effectively troubleshoots all systems when problems arise in effecting a clinically necessary disposition.

    + Assures that all appropriate documentation is complete according to standards to conduct the treatment/disposition plan.

    + Completes all the necessary contacts to arrange for the appropriate disposition of the case and independently resolves problems with complicated dispositions.

    + Attend all Staff meetings and administrative meetings as assigned.

    _Emergency Department (Periodic Rotation to ED may be required)_

    + Performs psychiatric assessment, formulates a diagnosis, and, in consultation with the referring physician, recommends and completes appropriate disposition.

    + Discusses the case with the Attending Physician to determine if the patient has been cleared medically and to determine why a consultation is requested.

    + Responds in a timely manner to requests from the Emergency Department Physician for psychiatric consultation.

    + Provides the requesting physician with the results of the assessment and disposition plan.

    + Is aware of time constraints of patient flow in the emergency department and paces work accordingly and consistently evaluates all patients during shift.

    + Provides appropriate sign-out, either verbally or in writing, on the clinical and disposition status of patients to the next shift staff member.

    + Works as a Team Member with all members of the Evening/Weekend Emergency consultation team.

    + Develops and maintains collegial working relationships with all ED Staff.

    _Documentation_

    + Provides documentation on all clinical and non-clinical activities.

    + Maintains client files in appropriate manner and complies with Johns Hopkins’ accepted record-keeping practices.

    + Charts are above 85% complete at chart reviews.

    + Knows and can implement all State of Maryland /Insurance/ and Federal mandated documentation.

    + Documents clinical assessment of all clients evaluated on the JHH Standard PES.

    + Evaluation form. Assessment information on PES has 95% completion rate.

    + Documents of all activities according to standards.

    Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Work requires knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a master’s degree in social work.

    + Work requires analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.

    + Work requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.

    + Personable and able to work well with adults with mental illness.

    + Strong work ethic, take initiative, and be able to work effectively as a team member.

    + Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and understanding/proficiency with verbal and written communication.

    + Able to work independently, collaboratively, and flexibly in adapting to new procedures.

    + Ability to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds. Committed to culturally competent practices and compassionate care.

    + Maintain patient privacy and HIPAA standards always.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Master’s Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or an equivalent organization approved by the Council on Social Work Education.

    + Two or more years of case of direct relevant clinical experience, of which at least one year is at the LCSW-C level.

    + Licensure, Certification, Registration: Licensure as an LCSW-C is required and must maintain license throughout duration of employment.

    + Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience in an emergency room or outpatient setting preferred.

    Starting Salary Range: $55,800 - $97,600 Annually ($90,822 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

    Schedule: Monday-Friday/ 8am 4 pm
