We’re hiring a K–6 Academic Tutor to provide daytime, in-person tutoring in Carlsbad. This role focuses on math, reading, writing, and foundational literacy skills for elementary students. Experience supporting students with dyslexia or other learning differences is a significant plus. This position is ideal for retired teachers, former educators, education majors with daytime availability, or experienced tutors who enjoy helping young learners build confidence and strong academic foundations. Responsibilities * Deliver individualized, one-on-one tutoring for students in grades K–6 * Support math fundamentals, reading fluency, writing skills, and comprehension * Tailor instruction to each child’s learning needs and pace * Incorporate strategies for students with dyslexia or learning challenges (if applicable) * Provide clear communication and session updates to families and our team via session reports Qualifications * Experience teaching or tutoring elementary students (K–6) * Strong skills in math and ELA instruction * Knowledge of or experience with dyslexia support strategies preferred * Reliable transportation for in-home sessions in Carlsbad * Professional, patient, and consistent * Daytime availability required (typically between 8am–3pm) * Bachelor’s degree or coursework in education or related field preferred Why This Role Works Well * Predictable daytime schedule * Consistent weekly sessions with students * Supportive team and clear direction * Meaningful, rewarding impact on elementary learners If you’re passionate about helping younger students grow academically and gain confidence, we’d love to hear from you.
