**We are seeking a visionary Director of Performance Engineering** to lead an engineering team obsessed with system performance. This leader will drive improvements in the performance of NetApp’s solutions and raise the engineering bar across the organization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical expert with a **bias for action** , capable of **diving deep** into complex performance issues while inspiring and challenging their team to excel. In this strategic role, you will ensure NetApp’s products deliver world-class performance and reliability, shaping the company’s performance engineering strategy and culture.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead the technical vision and strategy. Ensure alignment with business objectives.
+ Oversee the end-to-end development, deployment, and operation. Ensure security, availability, operations, scalability and performance.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product management, engineering leadership, data science, and operations—to deliver high-quality solutions.
+ Stay current and foster adoption of advancements in performance engineering. Proven ability to analyze complex performance data (CPU, memory, I/O) and debug system-level issues.
+ Mentor, hire, and grow a global development services team. Foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation
Preferred Experience
+ Prior experience in leading a performance engineering team in a large-scale software environment. Experience with NetApp ONTAP or similar enterprise storage systems is a strong plus.
+ Hands-on expertise with performance profiling and analysis tools (profilers, tracers) benchmarking suites, and frameworks. Familiarity with modern hardware (NVME, SSD, and high-speed networking) and their impact on storage performance.
+ Up to date on industry trends in storage and performance (such as NVMe-oF, cloud storage performance, caching algorithms). Participation in performance engineering communities, publications, or contributions to performance benchmark development is a plus.
Key Requirements
+ 10+ years of experience of leading high-velocity engineering and product organizations, ideally in a startup environment
+ 7+ years of experience in developing and operating cloud services.
Education and Experience
Minimum of 10 years of related experience with 7+ years managing a development team
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 241,400 - 358,600 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
