    Position Specific Description

     

    The Fleet NRC Exam Author plays a critical role in developing high-quality regulatory examinations that ensure nuclear operators meet the highest safety and competency standards. This position directly supports the operational integrity of the nuclear fleet by creating compliant, effective assessments under strict NRC guidelines and regulatory requirements.

     

    This role operates in a collaborative, safety-focused environment where precision and regulatory compliance are paramount. The position requires working closely with cross-functional teams including training departments, operations staff, and NRC representatives. The role demands meeting strict deadlines while maintaining the highest quality standards in a culture that prioritizes nuclear safety above all else.

     

    + Develops, reviews, and validates NRC regulatory examinations aligned with NUREG-1021 standards

    + Collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and regulatory compliance

    + Analyzes exam performance data to continuously improve assessment quality and effectiveness

    + Maintains comprehensive documentation for NRC inspections and regulatory reviews

    + Supports Licensed Operator Continuing Training programs and requalification requirements

    + Partners with training managers and regulatory bodies to align exam strategies with operational needs

     

    Job Overview

     

    The Nuclear Operations Regulatory Exam Author Sr develops and administers Regulatory Exams in accordance with NUREG-1021, “Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors”. You will interact professionally with other station departments and the NRC to ensure quality license exams are provided, ensuring safe and competent operators are available to staff our sites. This role requires meeting strict timelines and quality standards set by the NRC, supporting inspections related to Licensed Operator Continuing Training programs, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements for requalification programs. This directly contributes to the safety and operational integrity of nuclear power plants.

    Job Duties & Responsibilities

    + Create, review, and revise examination questions and test materials that assess candidates on Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulatory requirements, nuclear safety protocols, and technical knowledge relevant to their roles

    + Work closely with training managers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive exam strategies that reflect operational needs and regulatory directives

    + Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy, relevancy, and technical correctness of exam content

    + Maintain detailed records of test designs, development processes, revisions, and validation activities

    + Monitor and analyze exam results and feedback to identify areas for improvement

    + Stay informed of changes to NRC regulations and ensure that all exam content reflects the latest standards and guidelines

    + Prepare reports outlining the exam content and development activities for regulatory review and approval

    + Provide guidance and support to training professionals in preparing candidates for regulatory exams by developing training materials and workshops

    + Performs other job-related duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    + High School Grad / GED

    + Experience: 6+ years

    + Nuclear Experience: 4+ years
