Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Accountant for one of our clients in Springfield, TN. As an Accountant, you will maintain and reconcile books of accounts for all funds, preparing monthly financial statements and ensuring accuracy across subsidiary ledgers such as construction in progress, inventory, fixed assets, and cash accounts. You will manage property plant and equipment records, calculate depreciation, and handle asset disposals. Daily tasks include recording routine journal entries, preparing and filing monthly sales tax returns, and reviewing financial statements for operations. You will also prepare audit workpapers, assist auditors during annual audits, and support banking activities such as wire transfers and ACH payments. Additional responsibilities include managing special projects, replenishing cash drawers, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.

2–3 years of relevant accounting experience (municipal accounting preferred).

Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting/auditing standards.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial software.

Ability to maintain complex financial records and prepare accurate reports.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication skills (oral and written). Experience with municipal accounting systems.

Familiarity with utility accounting and construction project accounting.

Knowledge of federal and state laws, city ordinances, and departmental policies.

Experience preparing audit workpapers and working with external auditors.

Ability to operate 10-key calculator by touch.

Prior experience with property plant and equipment accounting.
