Job Description
This position will support the Transportation Data Equity Initiative project sponsored by the USDOT program. This innovative data infrastructure project, with a broad partnership among state departments of transportation, transportation service providers, industry and community partners, seeks to enable mobility equity by creating an interoperable, shared data infrastructure to fill in gaps in current transportation data and ultimately, provide travelers needed information they can trust. Detailed, accurate data about pedestrian networks, travel environments (transit facilities, etc.) and on-demand travel services is crucial for any trip planner, trip concierge, wayfinding, or exploratory mobile application, in particular applications and mobile experiences serving the needs of people with disabilities, older adults, veterans, suburban and rural populations.
This position exists to co-lead and coordinate the technical work of complex, multi-stakeholder projects within the Taskar Center’s Transportation Data Observatory, a federally supported initiative built atop the Transportation Data Exchange Initiative. The Data Project Manager will oversee the technical execution of contracts and deliverables across software development, GIS tool creation, data standardization, and public-facing dashboard design. They will serve as the operational anchor for project teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, timelines, and community co-design principles. This role is central to translating technical research and innovation into scalable, real-world infrastructure improvements.
Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Project Oversight: co-lead technology planning, execution, resource allocation and delivery of Observatory-related projects, including software, GIS tools, and dashboard development.
+ Stakeholder Coordination: Facilitate communication and alignment across internal teams, transit agencies, DOTs, and community partners.
+ Contract Management: Manage scopes, timelines, budgets, and reporting for funded projects and interagency agreements.
+ Standards Integration: Coordinate with data standards organizations to ensure compliance and interoperability.
+ Risk & QA Management: Identify risks, oversee QA processes, and ensure deliverables meet technical and community standards.
+ Reporting & Documentation: Prepare reports, dashboards, and documentation for funders, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, and at least 2 years of experience in technical project management.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Experience leading interdisciplinary teams
+ Familiarity with usability testing and participatory design
+ Understanding of project evaluation frameworks, KPI’s and other evaluation techniques.
+ Startup/founder experience or experience launching new initiatives
+ Knowledge of open data standards and civic technology ecosystems
+ PMP or Agile certification preferred but not required
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$93,000.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$102,996.00 annual
