    Overview

    Position Overview

    The Chief Engineer will have overall responsibility for managing and supporting operations of approximately 3.7 M SF of class A++ commercial office high-rises located at 2029/20249 Century Park East, and 2000 Avenue of Stars, ensuring optimal performance of all building systems in a **24/7 environment** . The chief will have the support of 3 assistant chief engineers.

     

    This role requires a seasoned leader with minimum of **15 years of experience** in engineering management and or as Chief Engineer, proven ability to **supervise large, diverse technical teams** , and deep expertise in **HVAC, Electrical, plumbing, and complex mechanical systems at large scales** .

     

    The Chief Engineer serves as the **primary point of contact for day-to-day operations** , driving safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. This position demands strong leadership, team-oriented mindset, technical proficiency, and the ability to manage high-pressure situations in a dynamic environment.

     

    **Pay:** $83.69/hr

    Essential Functions

    + Follow safe practices and comply with company and regulatory standards.

    + Operate or assist in operating all heating and ventilating (HVAC) equipment, engines, turbines, motors, combustion engines, pumps, air compressors, ice and refrigerating machines, air conditioning units, fans, and siphons on the site assigned.

    + Be flexible and willing to complete all tasks as assigned.

    + Work with internal and external customers on technical issues, work scope recommendations, and failure investigations.

    + Provide engineering support for a wide range of systems, maintenance programs, and operational engineering functions.

    + Understand, analyze, and seek solutions to the design, operation, maintenance, performance, or repair of equipment and components.

    + Review service bulletins and develop solutions and implementation plans, including cost/benefit analysis and project justification.

    + Coordinate work with other operational groups to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, operational reliability, and efficiency.

    + Create annual budgets and Capex.

    Expanded Responsibilities

    + **Leadership & Team Management**

    + Oversee and support a team of **20 engineers** (HVAC specialists, electricians, plumbers) and **3 Assistant Chief Engineers** .

    + Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and professional development.

    + Coordinate staffing and scheduling for a **24/7 operation** .

    + **Technical Oversight**

    + Manage all aspects of building systems, including **HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and advanced and large scale mechanical systems** .

    + Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and union requirements.

    + Oversee preventive maintenance programs and emergency response protocols.

    + **Strategic Management**

    + Implement operational improvements and energy efficiency initiatives.

    + Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on technical issues and project planning.

    + Monitor KPIs and ensure optimal performance of all systems.

    Qualifications

    + **Minimum 10 years of experience** in engineering management within large-scale, complex facilities.

    + Proven track record of **supervising large technical teams** in a union environment.

    + Expertise in **HVAC systems** , plumbing, and advanced mechanical operations.

    + Strong knowledge of **building automation systems (BAS)** and **energy management systems (EMS)** .

    + Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
